GBC Instructor Takes Electrical Knowledge to "the Last Frontier"

天天看片 Electrical Instructor Amber Cannon recently returned from delivering Electrical Safety training at Hecla Greens Creek mine in Alaska. There were 5 technicians in the class focusing on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. The culmination of the training was the High Voltage training exercise, in which students are asked to put their 2 days of training knowledge to the test, in a practical way. They utilize job planning skills and the use of charts in the NFPA 70E to determine safety barricades and proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job scenario they were given.
"I think it went well and was a huge step towards building a stronger relationship with Hecla," Cannon said. "They sponsored an electrical student last year, after visiting our campus. They are sponsoring the same student in the Instrumentation program this school year."
The training course was such a success Instructor Cannon will be returning to the Greens Creek mine to conduct the same training over Labor Day weekend. Think of all those frequent flyer miles!
GBC has great instructors who are willing to support students in Nevada and beyond and this is one of the many ways the college strengthens relationships with industry partners through contract training.
